The Technology

WHAT IS ECA?

Water + Salt + Electricity

ECA (Electro-Chemical Activation) is a patented technology that submerges positive and negative electrodes in a solute containing positive and negative ions from the mixture of salt and water. This process results in the production of an alkaline surfactant and a potent disinfectant.

The ECA electrolysis process utilizes electrolytic cells where the anode (positive electrode) is separated from the cathode chamber (negative electrode), to allow ion separation and to prevent the production of gaseous chlorine.

Positive ions are attracted to the negative anode, where they receive electrons, thus resulting in neutral atoms or molecules. Negative ions are attracted to the positive electrode, and excess electrons flow through the solvent, where the electric current generates oxygenated water through oxidation-reduction reactions.

The result of this process are two Electrolyzed Water solutions: A neutral disinfectant/sanitizer (Anolyte) and a surfactant (Catholyte).

Electrolyzed Water is stable, cost-effective and leaves no residue. It can be used in countless applications across a wide variety of industries.

WHY USE

ECA SOLUTIONS?

SAVES ENERGY + TIME

BioBlasting spray applications dramatically reduce the time and costs associated with labor. Disinfectant or Sanitize a 20x20 room in less than 90 seconds! Treat large areas quickly by dispersing Anolyte via a BioBlasting Sprayer. Effectively treat surfaces including, ceilings, walls, and floors without wiping!

NEUTRALIZES ODORS

Anolyte deodorizes by killing the bacteria that causes odors. Anolyte eliminates odors at their source:

  • pet and urine odors
  • cigarette smoke
  • mold/musty odors
  • food odors

RESIDUE-FREE

Both Anolyte and Catholyte are residue free! There are no added fragrances, dyes, or harsh chemicals in any of the BioBlasting line of products.

REMOVES BIOFILM

BioBlasting products offer the added benefit of being able to remove biofilm and scale from manufacturing equipment, high-touch areas, floors, etc. This greatly minimizes a major contributor to contamination problems and greatly improves the longevity of costly equipment.

NO MICROBIAL RESISTANCE

Based on current research it appears that microorganisms are presently not able to build up resistance to Anolyte as they are able to do with other sanitizers and disinfectants. Anolyte destroys microorganisms so they cannot build up resistance and no adaptation occurs. Standard toxic chemicals can create strains of pathogens that become resistant over time, because the cell can expel or neutralize the chemical before it can kill it.

ELECTRO-CHEMICAL ACTIVATION

HOW IT WORKS

ECA (Electro-Chemical Activation) is a scientific process that mimics the body’s own natural process to fight off bacteria and viruses. When the body comes under attack, its immune system responds by releasing white blood cells and sending them to the invasion site. These cells produce a mixed oxidant solution (Anolyte) that is highly effective in eliminating microbes and pathogens.

White blood cells are an important part of the immune system that are involved in protecting the body against both infectious disease and foreign invaders such as bacteria and viruses.

BioBlast Disinfectant (Anolyte) is pH-neutral, generated by electrolysis of a dilute salt solution that passes through a proprietary electrolytic cell. This process can create large volumes of an environmentally friendly but extremely potent antimicrobial solution capable of rapid destruction of bacteria, viruses, spores, cysts, scale, and biofilm. BioBlast Disinfectant is stable, cost-effective to produce, greener than traditional chemical technologies, and can be used in multiple applications across a wide variety of industries.

Microbial pathogens are microorganisms capable of producing disease. Various types of bacteria, viruses, and fungi fall into this category. Some examples include: Norovirus, C.diff, E.coli, Salmonella, MRSA, and many more!

Mechanism of Action

The free ions in Anolyte rapidly react and denature proteins. Anolyte should not be used on protein based products, since it will react and destroy proteins. Once Anolyte comes into contact with a microorganism, it attacks the bacterial proteins located in the cell membranes.

Anolyte’s superior germicidal action is due to this direct killing mechanism. Anolyte will eradicate antibiotic resistant bacterial strains including MRSA and VRE similarly. Anolyte will also induce rupture of the cell membrane leading to cell lysis. This is due to an osmolarity difference or the concentration of ion in the solution versus in the cytoplasm. Anolyte initially damages the bacterial cell walls, allowing water to infiltrate the pathogenic cell. The microbe will reach an osmotic overload, where Anolyte solution and water floods the cell more rapidly than can be expelled. This causes the cell to burst, leaving the pathogen ineffective.

EFFECTIVENESS

99.9% reduction of microorganisms

Microorganisms cannot develop resistance against Anolyte, unlike traditional chemical agents.

STABILITY

Other standard Anolyte solutions have a very short shelf-life and can lose their disinfecting efficacy quickly. BioBlasting’s proprietary processes and technology produce Anolyte that is stable and has an extended shelf life. Anolyte has been proven effective for disinfecting and sanitizing applications in countless industries including medical, food processing, hospitality, schools, and many more.

ANOLYTE

BIOBLAST DISINFECTANT

BioBlast Disinfectant is an activated aqueous solution produced by passing a weak salt brine through an electrolytic cell using Electro-Chemical Activation (ECA) technology to temporarily change the properties of dilute salt water into a powerful oxidizing agent exhibiting antimicrobial properties.

BioBlast Disinfectant is produced at a near neutral 6.5 pH where the predominant antimicrobial agent is an efficient and efficacious specie of chlorine. BioBlast Disinfectant can effectively eliminate bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores. It is produced for use in medical, dental, veterinarian, institutional, hospitality, industrial, commercial, and residential applications.

CATHOLYTE

BIOBLAST CLEANER

BioBlast Cleaner is a stable, non-streaking surfactant with anti-microbial properties. It has an excellent absorbency (wetting effect) attaching itself to oil, grease and dirt. Catholye breaks dirt into smaller particles, keeps the particles suspended, and prevents the dirty water from re-depositing on a surface. This self-assembly makes BioBlast Cleaner a unique and faster drying cleaning solution.

BioBlast Cleaner removes biofilm and is a very effective degreaser. These properties make it a great option to safely clean floors without hazardous fumes, thus improving indoor air quality.

WHAT IS

BIOFILM?

A biofilm forms when microorganisms (for example, bacteria, fungi, algae, yeasts, and other non-living debries) adhere to the surface of objects. The microorganisms form an attachment to the surface of the object and become embedded within a matrix of extracellular substances. It is crucial to remove biofilm during the cleaning and disinfecting process to ensure complete elimination of microbial surface load.
